6 mm Double-Wall Polycarbonate for Insulation and Diffused Light

The Vego Junior Victorian Greenhouse - 8.0ft Wide features 6 mm double-wall polycarbonate panels across both its roof and walls. The air space between the two layers helps reduce heat loss compared with single-wall coverings, providing a more insulated growing environment for seedlings, vegetables, herbs, and flowers. This added insulation is particularly useful during cooler mornings and seasonal temperature changes, helping gardeners extend their growing opportunities beyond the typical outdoor growing season.

The translucent polycarbonate panels also diffuse incoming sunlight, distributing natural light more evenly throughout the greenhouse while reducing harsh, direct exposure on plants. This helps create gentler lighting conditions for seed trays, potted plants, and growing shelves. A UV-protective coating helps protect the panels from sun damage, supporting their durability over time. Together, these features offer a practical balance of insulation, light diffusion, and protection for everyday greenhouse gardening.

Vego Junior Victorian Greenhouse 8ft Wide manual roof vent and adjustable opener used to help regulate temperature and airflow

Adjustable Roof Vents for Everyday Temperature Control

Maintaining proper airflow is essential for healthy greenhouse growing, especially as temperatures rise on sunny days. The Vego Junior Victorian Greenhouse - 8.0ft Wide features adjustable roof vents that allow rising warm air to escape, helping reduce excess heat and humidity around your plants. The 8' × 8' model includes two roof vents, the 8' × 10.5' features three, and the 8' × 12.9' includes four, providing ventilation suited to each greenhouse size.

Each roof vent is manually operated, allowing you to adjust airflow as outdoor conditions change. Open the vents during warmer periods to release trapped heat, or close them when temperatures drop to help retain warmth inside. On particularly hot days, opening the greenhouse door can provide additional airflow. With no electricity or batteries required, this straightforward ventilation system gives gardeners practical control over their growing environment.

Classic Gable Roof and Built-In Rain Gutters

The Vego Junior Victorian Greenhouse - 8.0ft Wide features a classic gable roof and sleek black aluminum framing, giving it a timeless appearance that complements a variety of backyard gardens. A single hinged door provides convenient access for watering, moving pots, and tending plants, with a low 1.65-inch threshold for easier entry and exit.

Integrated rain gutters and downpipes channel water from the roof, helping manage runoff around the greenhouse while offering a convenient way to collect rainwater for your plants. By directing water into a collection container, you can reuse rainfall for everyday watering and make better use of natural resources. Keeping the gutters clear of leaves and debris helps maintain proper drainage with minimal upkeep.

Choose Your Junior Victorian Greenhouse Size

The Vego Junior Victorian Greenhouse - 8.0ft Wide is available in three sizes to accommodate different gardening needs and backyard layouts. Plan Your Greenhouse Installation

Vego Junior Victorian Greenhouse 8ft Wide foundation options: solid foundation, continuous supporting frame, firm ground with anchoring, and unsupported pads to avoid

A little preparation before assembly can make a big difference in the stability and long-term performance of your Vego Junior Victorian Greenhouse - 8.0ft Wide. Start by choosing a level, well-drained location with adequate sunlight and enough clearance for the door to open comfortably. Before building, consider your foundation, anchoring method, and the space you'll need to move around the greenhouse during installation.

Foundation and Anchoring: Vego recommends installing the greenhouse on a stable, level surface, preferably a solid foundation or continuous supporting frame. The base includes pre-drilled anchoring holes, with instructions for securing it to concrete, timber, or firm ground. Proper anchoring is essential for keeping the structure secure in changing weather conditions. Ground stakes for grass or soil installations must be purchased separately.

Assembly Requirements: The Junior Victorian is designed for assembly by two or more people, with Vego estimating approximately 6–12 hours depending on the greenhouse size and installation conditions. Pre-installed frame nuts help simplify the process, but you'll still need basic tools, including a cordless drill, level, measuring tape, rubber mallet, ladder, and silicone caulk. Review the installation manual and check all components before starting.

Polycarbonate Installation and Weatherproofing: During assembly, make sure the UV-protected side of each polycarbonate panel faces outward, as indicated by the manufacturer's protective film. Seal the specified cut panel edges using the supplied tape, and follow the manual's instructions for applying silicone caulk around the panels, roof vents, and gutter connections. Silicone caulk is not included and should be purchased before installation.

Ongoing Maintenance: Keep the roof and gutters clear of accumulated snow, leaves, and debris to maintain proper drainage and avoid unnecessary structural loads. Periodically inspect the frame, anchoring points, door, and ventilation hardware to ensure everything remains secure and operates smoothly. Clean the polycarbonate panels with mild soap and water, avoiding abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.

Foundation Options: The following foundation arrangements are illustrated in Vego's installation manual:

1. Solid Foundation — Preferred: A level concrete slab or similar continuous solid surface provides stable support and a secure anchoring base.

2. Continuous Supporting Frame — Preferred: A properly constructed timber or other suitable perimeter frame supports the greenhouse base and provides an anchoring surface.

3. Firm Ground or Grass — Possible: Installation directly on firm, level ground is possible when the greenhouse is appropriately anchored. Suitable ground stakes are not included.

4. Isolated Support Pads — Not Recommended: Placing the greenhouse on separate blocks or pads that leave sections of the base unsupported does not provide the continuous support shown in the manufacturer's recommended foundation arrangements.

Important: Foundation preparation and anchoring requirements may vary depending on ground conditions, local weather, and the greenhouse size selected. Always follow the installation manual for your specific model and check applicable local building requirements before installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Vego Junior Victorian Greenhouse size should I choose?

The right size depends on your available backyard space and what you plan to grow. The 8' × 8' model offers 56 square feet of interior space, making it a practical choice for seed starting, herbs, and potted vegetables. The 8' × 10.5' provides 77 square feet for additional shelving, a potting workspace, and a wider variety of plants, while the 8' × 12.9' offers 92 square feet for larger growing setups. Consider your preferred layout, available space, and future gardening plans when selecting a size.

Can I use the Junior Victorian Greenhouse during winter without a heater?

The Junior Victorian's 6 mm double-wall polycarbonate panels help reduce heat loss compared with single-wall coverings, making it useful for extending the growing season. However, an unheated greenhouse can still get very cold overnight. In colder climates, supplemental heating may be necessary to protect frost-sensitive plants. Your heating needs will depend on local temperatures, the plants you're growing, and the indoor temperature you want to maintain.

Will the Junior Victorian Greenhouse get too hot during summer?

Greenhouses can warm up quickly during sunny weather, but the Junior Victorian includes adjustable roof vents to help release excess heat. The 8' × 8' model has two roof vents, the 8' × 10.5' has three, and the 8' × 12.9' has four. Opening the greenhouse door can provide additional airflow, while shade cloth or a circulation fan may help during particularly hot weather. Regularly monitoring the temperature will help you maintain suitable growing conditions for your plants.

Do the Junior Victorian's roof vents open automatically?

No. The Junior Victorian features manually operated roof vents, allowing you to adjust ventilation as needed. Open them during warmer weather to release trapped heat and close them when temperatures cool to help retain warmth. The system requires no electricity or batteries, but the vents must be adjusted manually. Depending on the selected greenhouse size, you'll have two, three, or four roof vents.

Where should I position the Junior Victorian Greenhouse in my backyard?

Choose a level location that receives plenty of sunlight, especially during the cooler growing months. Avoid placing the greenhouse directly beneath large trees or where nearby structures create excessive shade. Leave enough room around it to open the door comfortably, access the gutters, and perform routine maintenance. All three models are 8 feet wide with a 7.75-foot peak height, so consider both the greenhouse footprint and overhead clearance when planning your installation.

Will condensation form inside the greenhouse?

Some condensation is normal when warm, humid air meets cooler greenhouse surfaces, particularly overnight or during seasonal temperature changes. Opening the roof vents helps release excess moisture and improve air circulation. During assembly, install the polycarbonate panels with the UV-protected side facing outward and seal the specified exposed edges using the supplied tape. Proper installation and regular ventilation help manage moisture buildup.

Do I need a building permit for the Vego Junior Victorian Greenhouse?

Permit requirements depend on your location, greenhouse size, and local building regulations. All three 8.0ft-wide Junior Victorian models have a 7.75-foot peak height, which may be suitable for properties with certain height restrictions. However, height alone does not determine whether a permit is required. Before installation, check your local building and zoning requirements, property setbacks, and any applicable HOA guidelines to confirm that your selected model is permitted.

How difficult is it to assemble the Vego Junior Victorian Greenhouse?

The Junior Victorian features pre-installed frame nuts and illustrated assembly instructions to help simplify installation. Allow approximately 6–12 hours with at least two people, depending on the greenhouse size and installation conditions. You'll need additional tools, including a drill, level, ladder, and rubber mallet. The installation manual guides you through the foundation, frame, polycarbonate panels, roof vents, gutters, and door assembly. Silicone caulk is also required for weatherproofing and must be purchased separately.

The Junior Victorian ships in multiple boxes containing the aluminum frame, polycarbonate panels, and installation components. The number of boxes depends on the greenhouse size:

Order Confirmation:

As soon as you place your order you will receive an order confirmation e-mail.  This means that we have received your order in our system and pre-authorised your credit card for the purchase.

As soon as we receive your order we automatically check to confirm that your order is in stock and available for immediate shipment.  If your item is on back-order or unavailable we will void the pre-authorisation and reach out to you via e-mail to see if alternate arrangements can be made.

If your item(s) are available for immediate shipment (within 5 business days) we will process the charges and get to work preparing your order for shipment.

Order Shipment:

If your order is in stock and we process the charges to your credit card it will ship within three business days from the date of your order.

We will send you shipping confirmation within 24 hours of your order leaving the warehouse to the e-mail address you provided when checking out.

If you do not receive shipping confirmation from us within four business days of your order feel free to follow up with us at sales@vistagreenhouses.com.

International Orders:

Please be aware that our products are made specifically for the USA market. This means that they require a [choose 110V or 240V] electrical system to function correctly.

Our products have generally not been certified for use with other countries electrical safety standards but all of our products are certified to USA standards.

We will happily ship our fantastic products to international customers. Due to the extremely wide variety of product dimensions we will provide an up to date shipping price quote for you on request.

If you are happy with our shipping quote we will prepare an order and payment though our ultra secure online payment gateway.
